"The soulful element is underscored by remarkable, virtuosic vocal percussion...from aching love ballads to dazzling mile a minute funk - the House Jacks can do it all!" -- Goldmine magazine

A rock band without instruments, the House Jacks' "no-holds barred" a cappella style obliterates traditional preconceptions about the limits of the human voice. Deke Sharon, Roo Ahuja, Wes Carroll, Troy Horne and Austin Willacy run the gamut from tender love ballads to mile-a-minute funk, complete with mind-blowing vocal percussion and riffs that you would swear tore straight out of a whammy-bar guitar. Taking their name from Heavy Equipment section of the Yellow Pages (a "house jack" is what you use to move a residence), the Jax originally got to know each other on the collegiate a cappella circuit of the late 1980s. The group has completed several successful world tours, gained thousands of devoted fans, and recorded five albums.

`Til Dawn, a teen a cappella singing group, performs at a variety of community events, benefits and schools. The group celebrates the value of the arts, encourages positive messages about meaningful social issues, and inspires children of all ages. The members of ’Til Dawn perform popular music in addition to original songs written by group members.

House Jacks
Roo Ahuja began his vocal training at the age of three studying North Indian classical music with his mother. Though his vocal style gradually shifted to R&B and pop, he remained passionate about Indian music and the relationship between both genres. After high school, Roo decided to continue with his study of music and to further experiment with eastern and western themes in his writing. Since completing his degree from the Berklee College of Music, Roo has brought this unique R&B fusion sound to New York City where it has received critical acclaim. He has worked with a multitude of award winning producers and writers in the Northeast including Chiba Antoine (Destiny?s Child, Brandy, Beck, Lauryn Hill), Charles Mack (Destinys Child, Omarion), and Dave Liang (Bad Boy, Universal/Motown). His voice has also been featured on both major and independent film soundtracks.  Roo released a six song EP in 2003 entitled Believe and is working to release a full-length album in the coming year.  His a cappella experience includes: The Binghamton Crosbys,(1997 ICCA Finalists), Hyannis Sound, Groove (2002 Harmony Sweeps Finalists), and Five O Clock Shadow.

Austin Willacy's strong tenor lead voice is familiar to anyone who has heard a House Jacks CD. His songwriting and vocal skills are showcased on all of their major recordings (Naked Noise, Naked Funk Funkwich, Drive, Unbroken, and Fitchy & Grikko). He wrote the classic House Jack originals "Thread," "All Of My Life," "Dirt" and "Palm Sunday".  Born in Washington D.C. and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Austin received a degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College, where he sang with, and directed, The Dartmouth Aires before moving to San Francisco to refine his songwriting and pursue a career in music.
Austin signed to APG Records and released american pi, his debut CD featuring his original material which has garnered uniformly positive reviews, and has already resulted in serious acclaim.

Deke Sharon singing at age 5, and by age 9 he was touring with the San Francisco Boys Chorus. In fact, he missed an entire month of Fourth Grade which is why to this day he thinks Ponce De Lion is some species of animal.
Deke would probably have been pummeled daily in the schoolyard for being a "songbird" if he weren't the tallest kid in the class. He took this as a divine sign that he should make a career of a cappella (which is a good thing because he wasn't any good at basketball).
Deke is the lead arranger of the group, and has written many of the group's songs. His most recent songwriting contributions are "Athena" and "The Bone" (which can be heard on "Fitchy & Grikko").  When he's not busy Jackin', Deke's busy building an a cappella empire:
* He formed the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America (www.casa.org) in his dorm room in college, and now it's an international force in vocal music.  * He publishes sheet music through his company Contemporary A Cappella Publishing (www.capublish.org), and has done over 1,000 custom arrangements for groups around the world through the Ultimate A Cappella Arranging Service
* He helps form and direct groups, such as Disneyworld's American Vybe and LA's Vybration (formerly Disneyland's Groove 66).
* He produces a cappella recordings (Denmark's BaSix, Utah's Moosebutter, the Tufts Beelzebubs, etc), leads seminars on a cappella, coaches groups and teaches private lessons.

Antonio was born in Guatemala and grew up in Northern California, and began singing contemporary a cappella at the age of 12 with the group Denim.
He began as one of the group’s tenors, but the wonders of nature granted him his unique resonant bass voice by the time he reached high school. With Denim, he performed at shows all over the state, opening for such groups as M-Pact!, This Side Up, and Boyz Nite Out. The highlight of his career in Denim was opening for two House Jacks shows, an experience that inspired Antonio to always strive to improve his bass vocals and presence.

Born in Seattle, Washington, Jake Moulton has been performing professionally for almost 20 years. Mimicking the sounds of a drum kit, as well as utilizing the more organic sounds inherent in beatboxing, Jake has created a style all his own; a driving, technical style that makes his work with vocal groups, bands, and as a soloist powerful and successful. His strong musical ear allows for strength in both beatboxing and in his re-creation of many instrumental sounds, including the guitar, trumpet, flute, harmonica and turntables.
As a founding member of the rock a cappella band Kickshaw and later as member of the world-renowned pop/jazz vocal group m-pact, Jake has performed at countless jazz and music festivals worldwide. Over the years, he has shared the stage with many of the music industry’s greatest talents, including Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Herbie Hancock, Sheryll Crow, Boys II Men, Kenny G, Heart’s Ann Wilson, and the New York Voices, just to name a few.

"Nearly everyone who encounters this attractive and sophisticated singer-songwriter agrees that she has 'star' written all over her," says Acoustic Guitar Magazine about Megan Slankard. "She forges a distinctive sound with her smooth and courageous vocal dynamics, intelligent and diverse song styles, and sheer infectious enthusiasm."
